Are you frustrated with zero replies on your application?

Don’t lose heart because the perfect job is waiting for you.

But have you thought about these rejections?

Companies could reject you because:

  • They get bulk applications and can’t review all

  • Your cover letter isn’t convincing enough

  • Your resume isn’t highlighting your skills properly

But that’s not it.

We are super sure that this reason has not crossed your mind 🤫

Did you know companies are GOOGLING you?

They check all your social media profiles, from LinkedIn to TikTok.

And sometimes they might judge you (which is totally wrong) for sharing political views, posting pictures with alcohol or videos while swearing.

Your personal life is your choice.

but sometimes companies forget that while hiring, and it’s better for us to navigate the system instead of trying to change it.

According to a 2018 CareerBuilder survey, 70% of employers check out applicants’ profiles as part of their screening process, and 54% have rejected applicants because of what they found.

So, what can you do?

1. Have Separate Email IDs

If you apply for a job application with a particular email address and sign up with it on your socials too, then you are in trouble.

Companies can find your accounts even if the username varies.

So, create a separate email account and sign up on your socials.

2. Clean Up Your Digital Footprint Before Applying for Jobs

Your recruiter, possibly.

Delete all the old accounts that you no longer use.

For example, your college MySpace account isn’t relevant anymore. If you don’t want employers to see it, delete it.

You can also change the privacy settings of your social media accounts. If you want to keep public accounts, delete offensive content or posts that can hurt your hiring chances.

In addition to social media sites, look for photo and video-sharing sites, blogs, forums, and anything related to your name

3. Be Mindful of what you post

Think before you post!

If you want to use public accounts, then be mindful of what you post. Avoid anything that offends any community, political group or religion.

Steer clear from nudity, alcohol and drugs as well because companies do judge you on these parameters.

Sometimes your applications are rejected for a completely different reason, not because you lack skills.
